H’ble Minister of Earth Sciences visits NCAOR
Shri Prithviraj Chavan, H’ble Minister for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, visited NCAOR on 15th February2010, when he inaugurated Cryobiology and SIRMS laboratories in the Laboratory block. Shri Chavan interacted with scientists and research scholars and visited all the laboratories at NCAOR including Ice core Lab. and showed keen interest in the scientific activities pursued by scientists that span from Antarctic to Arctic and Southern Ocean. Earlier the Director made a presentation about NCAOR sponsored Antarctic, Arctic, Southern Ocean, EEZ and CLCS expeditions undertaken so far. H’ble Minister took keen interest in the establishment of India’s new Research Station –Bharati at Larsemann Hills and assured full support to the polar activities that have advanced our knowledge about the icy continent.
Shri Chavan examined the geophysical
maps generated in connection with the legal continental Shelf Program of
India and appreciated the data repository and archival processes.
